Within CAS, Kim is mainly concerned with the strategic lines, the development of the knowledge infrastructure and the relationship with national policy. As program manager of Knowledge for Climate (2008-2014), he was closely involved in the establishment of CAS. Kim is one of the authors of the National Climate Adaptation Strategy (NAS2016). The LIFE IP Climate Adaptation program is one of his brainchildren. He also initiated the Climate-Proof Cities program (NKWK – KBS) and has advised the Delta Program since 2010. Kim is also director of the Delta Alliance and chairman of the board of the Waddenvereniging, the Dutch environmental association for the preservation of the Wadden region.
