Measures are increasingly being taken to combat waterlogging, drought and heat. But do these adaptation measures work well? Which measures can be applied where and how? And what are the practical experiences with different measures? To help governments and other organisations choose from a range of measures, the Knowledge Bank Green-blue Networks is now available. With this, we want to bring together information on measures and their effectiveness and make it available to a broad target group. We set up the knowledge bank together with Atelier Groenblauw, Deltares, Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen and the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences.
For whom is the Knowledge Bank Green-blue Networks intended?
The Knowledge Bank Green-blue Networks is primarily intended for professionals involved in climate adaptation. These may be professionals from a municipality or other government, but also professionals from other organisations. In addition, this knowledge bank is a source of information for teachers and students doing research on climate adaptation.
What can you find in the knowledge bank?
The Knowledge Bank Green-blue Networks consists of three sections:
- Studies: The knowledge bank contains various scientific studies on adaptation measures, including a summary for each study.
- Effects: The knowledge bank contains a database of measures. For each measure, you can read what the effects can be, where you can implement them and what to look out for during construction and maintenance.
- Practice: The knowledge bank also contains people’s experiences with measures in practice.
What can you use the knowledge bank for?
The Knowledge Bank Green-blue Networks can help you decide which adaptation measures to take. By delving into studies and practical examples on the effectiveness of measures through this knowledge bank, you can come to a better decision.
What is our role in the project?
Together with Atelier Groenblauw and Deltares, we develop the knowledge bank and form the core team to manage it. The contracting party is the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, through the research track NKWK Climate-Proof City. Deltares and the universities of applied sciences provide the knowledge to be found in the knowledge bank through research and experience. In November 2021, the first version of the knowledge bank came online. The intention is to expand it in the coming years.
