C40 Cities is helping 97 cities around the world create a Climate Action Plan. Part of this is to protect your city from the effects of climate change. To do this, you first need to find out which climate risks your city is vulnerable to. This can be done with a Climate Risk Assessment (CRA). But how do you carry it out? And what do you do afterwards? How do you take action? To help cities do this, we have developed the Rapid CRA Module and the Adaptation Action Identification Module (AIM) together with Sweco. These trainings help each of these 97 cities carry out a climate stress test in a short time and with a small budget, and translate the resulting risks into action. <\/p>\n <\/div>\n

What will you learn in the CRA module?<\/h3>\n

In the CRA module, consultants learn what a Climate Risk Assessment entails and how to carry it out. First, you need to determine the climate change impacts for your city. For example, is the city susceptible to heat, flooding, storms or heavy precipitation? And how might those sensitivities affect locations and sectors in the city? Furthermore, you will get an overview of what data you can use, and learn how to assess climate risks for the future. You will also learn how to use sphere diagrams in meetings to determine which impacts are most urgent. You will use these ‘key climate risks’ for the final Risk Assessment: what are the biggest climate risks for the city? Finally, the module shows you how to use a storymap to clearly communicate the results of the Risk Assessment to all parties involved in the city.<\/p>\n

What will you learn in the AIM?<\/h3>\n

In the AIM, advisers learn how, together with all parties involved, they arrive at shared ambitions and matching adaptation measures. The module is a logical sequel to the Rapid CRA module, in which you learn how to conduct a Climate Risk Assessment. In the AIM, you go through three steps:<\/p>\n

  1. Analysis: What are the main causes of the Key Climate Risks from the Climate Risk Assessment? Participants look at both the city’s natural and socio-economic systems.
    \n2. Ambition: What are the shared ambitions for the city? How would you like the city to deal with the effects of climate change? The module distinguishes three levels of ambition.
    \n3. Action: What can you do to protect the city from climate risks? Each participant writes down actions, after which all participants score the actions written down. Then together they look more closely at the actions with the highest score. Is it possible to combine a certain action with other important tasks? Who is responsible for its implementation, what type of action is it, on what timescale should it be carried out?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    What is C40 Cities?<\/h3>\n

    C40 Cities<\/a> is a network of 97<\/span> major cities around the world. This network helps those cities create a Climate Action Plan to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement. This plan encourages cities to reduce C02 emissions to limit global warming. At the same time, it encourages them to protect residents from the effects of climate change. <\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
